OHIO STEEL COUNCIL WELCOMES INTERNATIONAL STEEL GROUP
COLUMBUS, Ohio (May 30, 2003) – International Steel Group, Inc. (ISG) has joined the Ohio Steel Council, a measure that rounds out the Council’s representation of top steel producers in Ohio.
With ISG as a member, the Council once again represents approximately 90 percent of all steel-producing operations in Ohio. ISG operates the former LTV Steel Co.’s flat rolled steel plants in Cleveland, East Chicago, Ind., and Hennepin, Ill., as well as a coke plant in Warren, Ohio, and other related facilities. It also owns the steelmaking assets of the former Acme Steel and Bethlehem Steel Corp. ISG’s Ohio production, shipping, employment, payroll and capital investment numbers will be included in the aggregate data that the Council reports to the public. ISG will begin reporting data first quarter 2003. The Ohio Steel Council is a public-private partnership designed to strengthen ties among the state’s steel industry, the state of Ohio and its citizens. The Council’s member organizations are AK Steel Corp., International Steel Group, Inc., Ohio Department of Development, Ohio House of Representatives, Ohio Senate, The Ohio State University, PRO-TEC Coating Company, Republic Engineered Products, Stark State College of Technology, The Timken Company, United Steelworkers of America, USS Lorain Pipe Mills, V&M Star, WCI Steel, Inc., and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.
