GOV. STRICKLAND APPOINTS NEW MEMBER TO OHIO STEEL COUNCIL; THREE NEW ASSOCIATE MEMBERS JOIN COUNCIL
COLUMBUS, Ohio (December 19, 2008) – Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland recently appointed Larry G. Taylor, the plant manager for Lorain Tubular Operations of United States Steel Corporation, to the Ohio Steel Council. Also, the Council welcomed three new associate member companies: North Star BlueScope Steel, LLC in Delta, Nucor Steel Marion, Inc. in Marion and Eramet Marietta Inc. in Marietta. On the Council, Taylor will represent two U.S. Steel Corporation companies, Lorain Tubular in Lorain and PRO-TEC Coating Company in Leipsic. In his current capacity, Taylor directs plant operations, overseeing two operating mills and 550 employees. Taylor, who has more than 30 years of experience in the Ohio steel industry, previously served as an operations manager for Lone Star Steel and as a North American human resources manager at Almatis, Inc. “We are grateful to Gov. Strickland for this appointment of Larry Taylor, an industry veteran whose contributions to the Council will be extremely valuable,” said Roger Lindgren, co-chair of the Council and president and chief executive officer of V&M STAR. Taylor holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bluffton College. He resides in Lorain, Ohio. Instituted by the Ohio State Legislature in 1990, the Ohio Steel Council is a public-private partnership designed to strengthen industry ties by maintaining a competitive steel industry in Ohio and ensuring the state’s economic well-being.
