FOUR NEW COMMISSIONERS NAMED TO THE OHIO STEEL COUNCIL
COLUMBUS, Ohio (December 23, 2002) – The Ohio Steel Council announces four new members representing AK Steel Corp., Middletown, Ohio; PRO-TEC Coating Company, Leipsic, Ohio; Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Wheeling, W. Va.; and Stark State College of Technology, Canton, Ohio.
New members were appointed by Ohio Gov. Bob Taft, with the exception of Stark State College of Technology's member representative, who was appointed by the Ohio Board of Regents. Representing AK Steel Corp. is Alan H. McCoy, vice president of public affairs. McCoy has been with AK Steel Corp. for more than 25 years. He is a director of the Mid-Miami Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Indiana Steel Industry Council. He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Kansas. He currently lives in Cincinnati with his wife and three daughters. Representing PRO-TEC Coating Company is W. Paul Worstell, the company's president. He is an executive committee member of the Findlay-Hancock County Chamber of Commerce, board member of the Business Education Network and the Black Swamp Area Council, and he is administrative vice president of Boy Scouts of America. Before joining PRO-TEC Coating Company in 1996, Worstell spent 25 years at U.S. Steel's operations in Pittsburgh. He holds a bachelor's degree from Mount Union College and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Findlay. Worstell currently resides in Findlay with his wife and three children. Mark Morelli represents Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., with Ohio operations in Steubenville, Mingo Junction, Yorkville and Martins Ferry. Morelli is vice president of operations and has been with the company since 1975. He holds a bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He resides in Wintersville, Ohio, with his wife and three sons. Also new to the Council is Dr. John McGrath, president of Stark State College of Technology. McGrath has more than 30 years of experience in university instruction and administration. He is co-chairman of the Ohio College Tech Prep Advisory Committee, chairman of the Stark Development Board and chairman of the Workforce Investment Board Strategic Planning Committee for Stark and Tuscarawas Counties. McGrath holds a master's degree in business administration and a doctorate in higher education from Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich., and he is a graduate of the Institute for Educational Management at Harvard University. He resides in Massillon with his wife. The Ohio Steel Council, appointed by the governor, is a public/private partnership designed to strengthen ties among the steel industry, the state of Ohio and its citizens. The Council's member organizations are AK Steel Corp., V&M Star, Ohio Department of Development, Ohio House of Representatives, Ohio Senate, The Ohio State University, Pittsburgh Logistics Systems, Inc., PRO-TEC Coating Company, Republic Engineered Products, Stark State College of Technology, The Timken Company, United Steelworkers of America, USS Lorain Pipe Mills, WCI Steel, Inc., and Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.
