The Ohio steel industry’s total economic impact on Ohio’s economy is an estimated $7.2 billion, according to IMPLAN, a widely used economic model. Nearly 100,000 jobs can be linked to the steel industry – through direct employment or ripple effects throughout the economy. These jobs generate $4.8 billion in wages. For every one job in the steel industry, two more jobs are generated.
