THE OHIO STEEL COUNCIL APPLAUDS PRESIDENT TRUMP’S ANNOUNCEMENT ON STEEL TARIFFS

MARION, OH, March 9, 2018 – The Ohio Steel Council (OSC) applauds President Trump’s announcement on the implementation of tariffs on steel imports following the U.S. Commerce Department’s findings of Section 232.

The Board of Directors of the Ohio Steel Council (OSC) announced today that it has appointed a new officer.

COLUMBUS, OH, September 24, 2014 – The Board of Directors of the Ohio Steel Council (OSC) announced today that it has appointed a new officer.

Jon Jarvis, Vice President of Finance at Tata Steel Plating in Warren, Ohio, will serve a two-year term as Treasurer for the OSC through 2016. He succeeds Ed Forshey, who retired from AMG Vanadium, Inc.

Ohio Steel Council Applauds U.S. Department of Commerce decision to block Chinese OCTG producers from unfair dumping

COLUMBUS, OH, February 12, 2014 — The Ohio Steel Council said today that it applauds the U.S. Department of Commerce’s decision to block Chinese Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) producers from unfairly dumping their pipe products in the U.S. and in Ohio.

Dan Dimicco to Speak On The Critical Role of Manufacturing

COLUMBUS, OH, October 8, 2013 — Dan DiMicco, Executive Chairman and former Chief Executive Officer of Nucor Corporation, will candidly discuss the critical role of manufacturing in the economic recovery of Ohio and the United States at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium in Columbus, on Wednesday, October 16, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ohio Steel Council Elects New Officers

COLUMBUS, OH, August 13, 2013 — The Board of Directors of the Ohio Steel Council today announced the election of three new officers.

Brenda R. Schulz, Controller at Nucor Steel Marion, Inc. will serve as Chair and President; Emily B. Petrovich, Government Relations Manager at United States Steel Corporation, will serve as Secretary; and Ed D. Forshey, Director of Energy & Asset Management, at AMG Vanadium Inc., will serve as Treasurer. All three were unanimously elected and will serve as officers of the organization through 2014.

Ohio Steel Industry Critical To State’s Economy

Columbus, OH, February 22, 2012 — The Ohio steel industry’s total economic impact on Ohio’s economy is an estimated $7.2 billion, according IMPLAN data available to the Ohio Steel Council. Nearly 100,000 jobs can be linked to the steel industry through direct employment or ripple effects throughout the economy. For every one job in the steel industry, two more jobs are created. These jobs generate approximately $4.8 billion in wages.

More than 22,000 Ohio residents work directly for companies that produce or process steel products. Those companies pay more than $600 million in taxes to Ohio and its local communities, and $700 million in federal taxes. Revenue from those taxes is used to maintain and strengthen local, state and federal programs. In addition, the steel industry in Ohio spends about $315 million per year on capital expenditures and utilizes some of the most advanced technologies in the world.
