A Safer Steel Industry

The Ohio steel industry is committed to the highest standards of workplace safety. By significantly investing in safety training, equipment and compliance, the industry makes safety its top priority each and every day. With an unwavering focus on continuous improvement, Ohio’s steel producers and processors strive to achieve a common and achievable goal — an injury-free workplace. And, as a major part of the overall domestic steel industry, the results continue to move in the right direction. In fact, over the past seven years, the domestic steel industry has achieved a 60 percent reduction in both the total OSHA recordable injury and lost workday case rates while reaching record levels of productivity, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute.
